I’m thrilled to share some wonderful news—I’ve been selected as one of the 19 participants for the esteemed 2024 @see.it.be.it talent acceleration program by @cannes_lions . This marks a significant milestone for Kenya, as I am the first Kenyan creative ever to be part of this initiative, now celebrating its 10th year.

The @see.it.be.it program presents an exceptional opportunity to connect with fellow female creatives from around the globe and learn from industry leaders. I’m profoundly grateful for this chance to represent my country on such a prestigious platform (we will be a total of two Africans).

My heartfelt gratitude goes out to the selection committee for recognizing my work among the nearly 1400 global applications they reviewed. It’s truly humbling to be chosen from such a talented pool of individuals.

I’m looking forward to the invaluable experiences at the @cannes_lions International Festival of Creativity, and I feel privileged to share this journey with you.

I’m excited to share that I recently collaborated with @joto_ramen_nairobi , painting a Daruma doll for their restaurant.

A Daruma doll is a traditional Japanese figurine, typically round and hollow, inspired by Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism. While these dolls usually feature Bodhidharma in red, their appearance varies widely based on region and artist.

Adding my African perspective to this iconic Japanese symbol was incredibly fulfilling. I want to express a sincere thank you to @ryogo.kanda for making it all possible.

@joto_ramen_nairobi is known for its authentic Japanese ramen, providing a true taste of Japan in Nairobi.

‘In a pool of blue, a coin once dwelled,
Yet “blue coin” was a name it repelled.
To red it dipped, on one side alone,
Then “red and blue” its new title was shown.

But even this label didn’t fit just right,
So it spun and spun, both day and night.
And in this twirl, a new identity it found,
As the “spinning coin,” and it liked that sound’

Delighted to present the cover for 'The Book Censor's Library' @bothayna_alessa ! 🐇✨
Imagine George Orwell's 1984 mingling with Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland—a literary mashup that's both a cautionary tale and a heartfelt homage to the power of stories. Huge thanks to the brilliant team at @restlessbooks , especially Jennifer Alise Drew and Lydia McOscar, for an incredible collaboration.

Navigating the creative process for this project was a true adventure. Usually, I'm in the business of drawing things, but this time I dipped my toes into the world of typography too! Used @adobe Illustrator, @photoshop , and a bit of @procreate for the drafts. The result? A cover that offers a glimpse into the soul of 'The Book Censor's Library,' hitting shelves in April 2024.
