Toronto Geometry Colloquium

Brief:

  1. Create an editorial poster for the Toronto Geometry Colloquium (April 2021) on the theme “Weaving Justice Through Geometry”.
  2. Illustrate two accompanying speaker portraits.

Solution:

Break down the theme into its different components in order to arrive at the core of the message. For example, my approach was to interpret “justice” as a levelling of the playing field for all parties involved. I chose to represent “geometry” in the form of an older gentleman creating bubbles (beautiful geometric shapes) for the children to enjoy, while they all stand on even ground.

My intention is to communicate that communities become enjoyable when justice helps to level the playing field, and that this can be done through the aid of geometry.

This has resulted in a colourful, on-theme poster for promotional use.
