Client: The New York Times Book Review

Brief:
Create an editorial illustration for The New York Times Book Review, based on the novel “Radiant Fugitives” by Nawaaz Ahmed. Capture the essence of the narrative to engage and rouse reader interest.

Solution:
I collaborated closely with the Art Director to understand the narrative’s essence and created a set of three draft sketches for the team to choose from. Using the feedback provided, I guided the final piece to produce a powerful, interpretive editorial illustration that captures the novel’s themes and emotions, ultimately rousing reader interest.

Process:

  • Collaboration: Worked with the Art Director to deeply understand the narrative of “Radiant Fugitives.”
  • Sketching: Developed and presented three draft sketches, each offering a unique interpretive angle of the novel.
