Brief:

For the 10th issue of this UK-based magazine, my task was to create a double page spread illustration to celebrate of the life and work of environmental activist Wangari Maathai.

At the time of publication, it had been ten years since Wangari Maathai’s death. Still, her political and social agitation continue to change landscapes and lives. 

Solution:

To tackle this brief, I chose to design an illustrated collage highlighting the key moments from the life of Wangari Maathai. I then created an appropriate colour scheme for my client to consider. Finally, I weaved the illustrated elements in a way that showed consideration to the text and overall page layout.

This has resulted in a cohesive, visually pleasing feature article celebrating the life of Wangari Maathai.
