“Safari Canvas” Digital Deck of Cards

Client: Flick Solitaire

Brief:
Design a digital deck of cards inspired by the diverse landscapes of Africa, a topic I am deeply passionate about. Each suit should represent a different category of African landscape. Additionally, develop design elements to enhance the user experience on the Flick Solitaire App.

Solution:
I began by presenting the “Safari Canvas” concept to the Flick Solitaire team, proposing a thematic approach for each suit: clubs featuring desert dunes, diamonds highlighting African rivers, spades depicting coastal paradises, and hearts representing tropical rainforests. To celebrate the continent’s energy and vibrancy, I selected vibrant colors

Collaborating remotely with the UK-based team, I designed 52 playing cards, a card back, 7 card markers, a tabletop design, particle variations, a banner, a pop-up card, and a “You Win” card. I crafted typography and suit symbols consistent with the deck’s theme and recorded the creation process, providing responses to interview questions for promotional purposes.

Process:

  • Concept Presentation: Proposed the thematic approach for each suit to the Flick Solitaire team.
  • Research and Design: Developed the thematic elements for each suit, ensuring accurate representation of African landscapes.
  • Feedback and Revisions: Incorporated feedback from the team to refine the designs.
  • Final Design: Created the complete set of 52 playing cards, additional card markers, and related assets using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Promotional Content: Recorded the creation process and provided responses to interview questions for promotional use.

Deliverables:

  • 52 playing cards
  • Card back
  • 7 card markers
  • Tabletop design
  • Particle variations
  • Banner
  • Pop-up card
  • You Win card

Software Used:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Procreate
