Brief:
Design a vibrant cover for the play “Calpurnia” by Audrey Dwyer, effectively representing the tone and imagery of the play, which focuses on race, family relations, and appropriation.

Solution:
I read the play and consulted with the author to ensure the cover artwork aligned with their vision. Additionally, I maintained open communication with the managing editor throughout the design process. I presented two possible directions for the cover artwork and used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to bring the chosen direction to life. The resulting cover effectively draws in audiences, contributing to the play’s success by increasing sales.

Process:

  • Collaboration: Consulted with the author and maintained communication with the managing editor.
  • Concept Development: Presented two possible directions for the cover artwork.
  • Digital Rendering: Used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to develop and finalize the chosen cover design.
  • Final Design: Produced a vibrant cover that effectively captures the play’s tone and imagery.
