MO Magazine

Client: MO Magazine

Brief:
Create the special issue cover illustration for MO Magazine’s print edition, exploring unexpected forms of peace building and highlighting the everyday people living through conflict and actively rebuilding their societies.

Solution:
I centred the illustration on a burning tire, a grassroots symbol often associated with unrest. Within the flames, I portrayed children not as victims but as active peace builders, using play as their tool for resolving conflict. Their presence introduces a counter-narrative: even in environments marked by tension, young people continue to imagine, create, and restore. The intention was to highlight resilience and hope, and to visually connect the idea of peace building to the ingenuity and strength found within local communities.

Process:

  • Concept Development: Carried out a thorough brainstorm presented the ideas to the client for approval.
  • Sketching: Developed the concept of the burning tire and playing children using Adobe Illustrator
  • Digital Rendering: Used Adobe Photoshop to digitally render and refine the illustration.
  • Final Illustration: Produced a compelling cover illustration that communicates the key message.

Deliverables:

  • Cover Illustration for the Special Issue of MO* Magazine

Software Used:
